I’m getting pretty excited about my upcoming trip to Singapore. No, I’m not taking a holiday but hey, they say a change is as good as a holiday and Singapore is definitely very different to my hometown.
Singapore is the venue for upcoming IKO Conference 2015, and I’m delighted to have the honour of being on the advisory board and one of the presenters at this inaugural international event. It’s always great to be able to share knowledge, mix and mingle with peers through the Innovators in Knowledge Organisation.
I’ll be presenting a case study titled the Next Generation SharePoint: Office Graph, the technologies it powers, and the opportunities and challenges that follow. My study revolves around a global software development company, headquartered in the US. This company was pretty unique as it has a very special domain of knowledge that is normally hard to track.
With a team scattered around the world, it was pretty hard discovering what knowledge was held by whom even within the company whose main assets are their software and the special knowledge behind it.
Needless to say, I have risen to the challenge and come up with some great innovations that I’m going to be presenting and sharing in my case study. I thrive on challenge, and I love sharing my finding with my peers via case studies.
Besides my case study session, I’m also participating in many activities at the conference. One of my favorite challenges is to do a session about Search Based Applications in Pecha Kucha format: 20 slides, 20 seconds each! It’s definitely going to be intensive and entertaining!
I’m also looking forward to renewing my acquaintance with the wonderful sights, sounds and smells of the magnificent little island nation of Singapore that has such a cosmopolitan blend of food and cultures that coexist happily side by side.
